Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 23, 2026
RackMinder LLC (“RackMinder,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) publishes the RackMinder iOS app (com.rackminder.ios). This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information. RackMinder is designed to keep your data on your own devices and in your own iCloud account.
In plain terms: we do not run analytics, we do not show ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use any third-party data SDKs. We, the developer, do not have access to your location or to the garages, beacons, and trips you save in the app.
No account required
RackMinder has no account, username, or password. It uses your device’s existing iCloud sign-in to store your data in your own private iCloud. We do not ask for or collect an email address or other contact details to use the app. The Apple iCloud identity and any push notification tokens used for iCloud sync are handled by Apple’s system frameworks; they are not collected or stored by RackMinder LLC.
What the app processes
Location. RackMinder uses your device location — including in the background, which requires “Always” location permission — to detect when you are driving away from and back toward a garage you have saved, so it can alert you if you have a roof load on board. Your GPS coordinates are evaluated on your device, locally, against your saved garages. They are not transmitted to RackMinder LLC and are not stored on our servers.
Bluetooth. RackMinder uses Bluetooth to detect the iBeacon tag on your RackMinder beacon. This detection happens on your device. We do not receive your Bluetooth data.
Your content (garages, beacons, trips). The garages you save, the beacons you register, and the trips (“outings”) the app records are stored in your own private iCloud account (Apple’s CloudKit private database) and sync across your own Apple devices through iCloud. This data is governed by Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy. RackMinder LLC does not have access to your private iCloud data.
Reference catalog (download only). The app downloads a read-only public catalog of beacon and product information so it can recognize valid RackMinder beacons. This is reference data flowing to your device. It contains no personal information about you and is not a collection of your data.
Diagnostics. The app keeps a local diagnostic log on your device to help with troubleshooting. This log stays on your device — there is no built-in way to export or send it, and we do not receive it.
What we do NOT do
- We do not collect or store your location on our servers.
- We do not use analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking.
- We do not display advertising.
- We do not use third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties, partners, or advertisers.
- We do not use your data for marketing.
- We do not require an account, username, or password.
How your data is protected
Your content is stored in your own private iCloud account and is protected under Apple’s iCloud security and encryption practices and governed by Apple’s terms. Data stored locally on your device is protected by the device’s iOS data protection. Because we do not have access to your private iCloud data, we do not receive, store, or process it on our own servers.
Data retention and deletion
Because your garages, beacons, and trips live in your own iCloud, you control them. You can delete them in the app at any time, or remove the app and clear its iCloud data, which removes them from your iCloud in accordance with Apple’s iCloud handling. RackMinder LLC holds no separate server-side copy of your content to delete on your behalf, because we do not have access to it. We do not maintain a server-side account for you, so there is no separate account for us to retain or erase.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent.
Because RackMinder does not collect or hold your personal information on our servers — your data stays on your device and in your own iCloud — most of these rights are exercised directly by you through your device and your Apple iCloud account. If you have a question or a request, contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Children’s privacy
RackMinder is a driver-assistance utility intended for licensed drivers. It is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
International data transfers
RackMinder LLC operates in the United States. Your content is stored in your own Apple iCloud account; iCloud storage and any associated transfers are handled by Apple. Where personal information is processed across borders, it is handled with the safeguards required by applicable law, including GDPR where it applies.
Third parties
The only third party involved in the app’s data handling is Apple, through iCloud/CloudKit (a private database for your content and a public read-only database for the reference catalog) and the standard iOS frameworks. Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
Supervisory authority
If you are in the EU/UK and believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with applicable law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
