Follow these steps to protect your gear, your garage, and your car.
What You'll Need
- ✓ Your RackMinder iBeacon tag
- ✓ Your iPhone (iOS 15 or later)
- ✓ The RackMinder app (free on the App Store)
- ✓ Your gear (bike, kayak, skis, etc.)
Purchase Your iBeacon Tag
RackMinder iBeacon tags are available on Amazon. Search for RackMinder iBeacon Tag or purchase here. Starting at $39.99.
Attach the Tag to Your Gear
Secure the iBeacon tag directly to your roof rack load — your bike frame, kayak hull, ski bag, or any item you carry on the roof. Use the included mount or zip tie. Place it where it won't be damaged by wind or weather.
Add Your Beacon in the App
Open RackMinder and tap Add Beacon. Hold your iPhone near the tag — the app will detect it automatically. Give it a name (e.g. "Trek Bike" or "Kayak") and tap Save.
Set Up Your Garage
In the app, tap Add Garage. Drive to your garage entrance and tap Set Location — RackMinder will save the GPS coordinates. Give it a name (e.g. "Home") and tap Save. Repeat for any additional garages.
You're Protected
That's it. RackMinder runs silently in the background. When you approach your garage with gear loaded on your roof, you'll receive an alert on your iPhone, Apple Watch, or CarPlay — before you pull in.
Good to Know
- → The iBeacon tag battery lasts up to 2 years. The app will notify you when it needs replacing.
- → You can add multiple tags and multiple garages — perfect for families or multiple vehicles.
- → The tag is weatherproof. Leave it on your gear year-round.
- → Make sure Bluetooth and Location Services are enabled for RackMinder in your iPhone Settings.
- → Leave your beacon powered on at all times. Don't remove the battery or deactivate the tag — RackMinder relies on its signal, and the app can't protect your gear if the beacon is turned off.
